Fancy Pants

There's nothing better than a great pair of boyfriend jeans, but they can get a big generic after the constant wear and tear they undergo. This is why this pair of boyfriend jeans from Ralph Lauren's more affordable, more wearable line Denim & Supply is the perfect upgrade from plain old boyfriend jeans. Just as versatile, the lace panelling adds a bit of pop. Pair with some espadrilles, and these jeans are your new best friend.

Abbot Kinney, Venice, Part 1- Tom's Shoes

Vintage Jacket, JBrand Jeans, Topshop Loafers, Pam&Gela Shirt, Vintage Opal Ring, 14 Karats Love Ring, Forever 21 Knuckle Ring, Urban Outfitters Leather Bracelet, Vintage Silver Bracelet, Madewell Hair Tie

For those of you who have never been to Venice, California, and strolled down the famed Abbot Kinney that is teeming with hipsters of all shapes and sizes, it's time to book your visit. Recently, I did a beautiful photo shoot with Gremly Media, who snapped away artistic angles and lighting as we made our trek to different stores along Abbot Kinney, each representing a different aspect to the charm of the neighborhood. I had never been to the Tom's shoes flagship store, a rustic hideaway filled with odds and ends, an aromatic coffee bar and a whole cabana filled with, what else, Tom's shoes. There were tribal prints and delicate lace cutouts and straw patterned shoes, all which can be legitimately worn with jeans and a tank top and then a little black dress. When you go, make sure to bring your dog- they have a Fido-friendly oasis in the back, Tom's style!

Three Must Have Summer Looks

Number 1
The Breezy Bun at Dolce and Gabbana F/W Resort 2014
This soft chignon that hairstylist Guido created for the Dolce and Gabbana F/W 2014 show brings back a quintessential simplicity that we have long awaited to quench the lack of effortlessness in style today. Guido's goal was to use as little product as possible, because "Stefano and Domenico don't like the look of it". Touché. He first prepped the hair with a lightweight thickening spray (Redken Body Full) before blowing it out smooth. He then spritzed in some dry shampoo (Redken Pillow Proof). Next he eased hair into a middle part with his fingers, braided the ends and twisted the braid into a chignon. Lastly, he inserted bobby pins to hold the hairstyle in place, and pull out a few strands of hair to make it a bit messy. "It's very feminine, it's very soft, and it's very desirable," said Guido.

 Number 2

Feathery, Doll Lashes at Gucci F/W 2014
Long eyelashes are, to me, the most desirable feature because they essentially define the face. They represent femininity and it is important to play them up to their best ability. At Gucci, Twiggy-inspired lashes debuted with natural, nearly makeup-free skin to balance the boldness of the eyes. Try this look by applying false lashes to your bottom waterline, and just adding mascara to your top lashes to make your eyes pop.

 Number 3

Bold Eyebrows and Surfer Hair at Phillip Lim F/W 2014
Another covetable look of the season that we all secretly yearn to pull off is the "Surfer". Perfect, tan, makeup-free skin, and wet, tousled straight-from-the-sea hair. At Phillip Lim, this is perfectly achieved, with the bold brow as the focal point. Try this out on yourself by filling in your brows with a clay tinged powder shadow to give your face a strong look.

The Effortless Missoni Bikini

Finally- SUMMER! Let us commence the stuffing of our shlubby wool sweaters and dark jeans and unearth the gauzy dresses and bright bathing suits and colorful beachy sandals. Summer is the month where anything can happen, especially because everyone flies away to far off lands and then returns an entirely different person. Summer gives us the opportunity to discover ourselves again, and resume our passions, ones in which we couldn't participate while studiously studying for our final exams. Summer is all about the clothes, to which we all have come to terms, but what really defines summer for me is my BEACH PLAYLIST (this is how it's written on my Spotify, so I must honor its rightful capitalization). Your summer playlist is so distinctive compared to, say, your WINTER PLAYLIST, which consists of the overplayed Frozen song "Let It Go" (god.) or Lorde's "Buzzcut Season". But what we really need is a change, a change in clothes, a change in food (especially on my part; watermelon ! corn !) and a change in sound. I need a playlist, or else even a song, that can get me pumped up and excited for the summer, because even if you aren't going anywhere, Summer can still be a party! To start off your playlist, Swedish sisters Johanna Söderberg and Klara Söderberg combine their voices in perfect Folk-meets-Country harmony to create what I liken to perfection. It doesn't hurt that they have the absolute best hair in the WORLD, but that's just another asset to their all around perfection. The only other things you need are some sneakers and a 'kini! xx

summertime sadness

Illesteva Sunglasses; Zoe Chicco Chevron Rings; Gap Jacket; Chloé Perfume; Alexander Wang Bag; Torches; Zara Leather Skirt; Topshop Sneakers; Kate Spade Wallet; Frends Headphones; Sara Happ Lip Scrub.

Summer is a mere two months away, and it feels like an absolutely marvelous time to restock and rejuvenate your closet. I am in desperate need of some very bright (as in iris-damaging neons), but you must remember to include those toned down pieces as well this summer. My staples will be my pastel pink satchel, paired with these super cool snakeskin sneakers. The Chloé perfume is a must as well because it smells deliciously like rose, musk, and industrial glue. (I am an avid believer in strange perfumes, yet this one is feminine and light at the same time). Foster the People just performed at the cult Californian music festival Coachella in Indio this past month, and if I had gotten the chance to go, I would have been sobbing on my knees like the best of them. Their new album, Torches, is addictive ear candy, and listening looks cool with these futuristic Frends headphones. John Green's Paper Towns is the wildly exuberant adventure of Quentin and the love of his life Margo, seeking revenge on the dark dungeons that are American High Schools. This should be Number 1 on your summer reading list. Finals are coming up, I am spiraling into nostalgia after the finale of Scandal, and it's, not to mention, 96 DEGREES OUTSIDE, but I'm not complaining. Wonderful rest of the school year to you! xx

pop

jacket: mrs selfridge's dress: topshop necklace: vintage Victorian booties: lanvin beanie: jack spade

dress: forever 21 necklace: Santa Fe bag: coach flats: jimmy choo

I really love a good dress, and when I see one I like, it's all over for me. These two polar opposite picks, a tight black sequin and red floral, just happened to be quite inexpensive (just my luck!) They are so versatile, but I decided to do a night and day look. For the night look, the beanie made it more fun and casual, while the vintage silver necklace added elegance. For the day look, I paired some cherry red flats with the dress to compliment the hue of the roses. Two perfect, easy, and fairly inexpensive looks that I can wear again and again! xox

MY PICKS

I really love rings. They're so much more versatile than necklaces or bracelets, and can add subtle elegance and gracefulness to an outfit. I love to pile some really valuable and meaningful ones with some chunky ones to balance each other out. My absolute favorite types of rings have recently become knuckle rings, but ever since I saw this 'nail' ring (the ring goes on top of your nail) I decided this is my new favorite trend. It looks precarious (how am I supposed to write Honors English essays with those things on?!) but after a while, you'll get used to them (and the compliments you'll receive.) Try this out-- if it doesn't cooperate with your packed hand-use schedule, then by all means return them. But I have to admit.. you might just find them starting to grow on you! xox
